Psychiatric nursing or Mental Health nursing is that the role of nurses to cares for individuals of all ages with psychological state or mental distress, like dementia praecox, manic depressive illness, psychosis, depression or dementia. Psychiatric nursing or mental health nursing is the appointed role of a nursing that has promoting and supporting a person’s recovery and taking care of people of  all ages  who are suffering from mental illness, depression, bipolar disorder, etc.. The licensed registered nurses who are experts in a specific field are allowed to manage the health conditions of the patients and are responsible to them.

 

The specialty of nursing is that the Registered nurses work with individuals, families, groups, and communities, assessing their mental health needs. The PMH nurse develops a nursing diagnosis and plan of care, implements process, and evaluates it for effectiveness. PMH-APRNs assess, diagnose, and treat individuals and families with psychiatric disorders using their full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and administration of psychotherapy

Clinical Psychology is the special branch of science that deals with brain and psychology in clinical aspects for the better understanding, preventing, and relieving of psychologically-based distress and to promote subjective well-being and personal development. This major field is continued to grow tremendously and with increasing demand for professional clinical psychologists in the present days.

Mental health problems majorly affect both women and men equally, but some are more common among women. Treatments need to be very sensitive to and reflect gender differences. Some of the environmental factors can also lead to women’s poor mental health such as Abuse, Hormonal changes, malnutrition, domestic violence, stress and gender discrimination.
